I keep getting a java.lang.nullpointerexception!

From what we've seen, this seems to be a problem with the Volume Shadow Copy service. This is the Microsoft service that allows you to backup files that are currently in use on your machine. If you encounter this problem, try the following:
First of all, if you have an older version of Acronis Truimage software, either uninstall it or upgrade to the latest version. This is a known conflict with our software (more information can be found at http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=727926). After upgrading or uninstalling, try backing up again. If it works, congratulations - you fixed it! If not, continue to the next steps.
***WARNING! THIS STEP INVOLVES EDITING THE WINDOWS REGISTRY! YOU CAN RENDER YOUR MACHINE INOPERABLE IF YOU DO THE WRONG THING!***
1) Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex\Catalogs. There should be a "system" key and possibly a "web" key there. Do not remove these! Look for any entries that belong to programs you have uninstalled or do not have on your machine anymore and delete them. I.E. - there is a "Visio" entry, but you know you removed Microsoft Visio yesterday.
2) Open a command box and run "vssadmin list writers" without the quotes. This should return a list of writers. If it returns errors, goto step 4.
3) From the command box, run "vssadmin list providers" without the quotes. This should also return an error-free list. If not, continue to the next step.
4) Navigate to c:program files\Backup To The Web\bin and run double-click on "registervss.bat". This will re-register several .dlls and hopefully fix the problem. Several boxes should appear, and you'll need to press "OK" on each one. If you receive an error on "vssui.dll", don't worry about it - this file is only present on Windows 2003 Server machines.
5) When the file has finished running, reboot your machine and try backing up again.
